My favorite villa in Umbria - Relais Parco Subasio

Last May, we planned a trip to Assisi, one of the most beautiful cities in Umbria. Yes, in the very one where in the basilica of St. Francis are 13th century Giotto frescoes. I recommend everyone to see this beauty at least once in a lifetime.

Umbria is one of the few regions of Italy in which there is no sea, but this is also charming. Hills, incredible landscapes, birdsong and, of course, cuisine!

Since only 200 kilometers from Rome to Assisi, and we were not tied to public transport - we traveled in our own car, it was decided to look for a villa not in Assisi itself, but nearby and preferably as high as possible in the mountains - That's why she and Umbria, to climb high.

You can easily repeat our experience of renting a car for 25-40 euros / day at auto.italy4.me

After spending a couple of hours exploring the geolocations and offers at Bucking, I settled on Relais Parco Subasio.

Prices, conditions, atmosphere

The villa bribed me with its location, actually the highest located option, and the presence of a pool. The photo below is our daily drive to the villa.

Every morning we woke up from the singing of hundreds of birds, my mother was delighted. The cost of 2-room apartments which can accommodate, for example, 2 pairs is, depending on the season, only 80-100 euros / day. The host Christian has options for 5/6 people. See all his suggestions here.

The rooms are clean and tidy.

You open the glass door and you are already on the terrace, enjoying the beauties, drinking freshly squeezed orange juice while listening to the birds singing. It is important that each apartment is equipped with a kitchen, so think about breakfast in advance. You can have a meal in the afternoon in the cities where you will go for the sights: Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto.

They rested at the villa a second time a month later in June, and again three days later - they decided to celebrate the friend’s birthday and show him this beauty. We did not reach Perugia, which is 20 kilometers away, even on the second attempt. You come to Umbria for relaxation, unity with nature, and we did not want to chase the sights for the sake of a tick.

We just sunbathed by the pool, went to Assisi for a couple of hours, and then went for dinner to one of the most delicious restaurants in my life. My place for harmony in Umbria has been found, which I also wish you.

Important notes:

  • The villa has high-speed internet, which is rather the exception for Italy;
  • The pool is open from June to September;
  • From November to March, the villa is closed, because at this time you can reach it only on a prepared SUV or tractor.
